Two British Labour MPs, Yuan Yang and Abtisam Mohamed, were denied entry to Israel and sent back to the UK. The Israeli immigration ministry said they were not allowed in because they were suspected of wanting to film Israeli security forces and spread anti-Israel messages.
Ms Yang, who represents Earley and Woodley, and Ms Mohamed, the MP for Sheffield Central, flew from Luton to Israel on Saturday. They were with two assistants and told Israeli officials they were there as part of an official UK parliamentary visit. But Israel said this claim was false.

The Israeli government said the MPs had previously made false accusations against Israel, supported boycotts, and promoted sanctions. A statement from Israel’s UK embassy said the visit was meant to cause problems and spread lies about Israeli citizens.
UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy called Israel’s actions “unacceptable” and said it was wrong to treat British MPs this way. He said the UK government has spoken to the Israeli government and is supporting the two MPs.

Mr Lammy added that the UK wants to see a return to peace talks, a ceasefire, the release of hostages, and an end to the violence in Gaza.
