
In a heartbreaking accident, 11 devotees from Seha village lost their lives and 4 others were injured when their SUV fell into a canal on Sunday morning near Belwa Bahuta in the Ikaithok area.
The group was traveling to the Prithvinath temple in Ayodhya to perform Jalabhishek when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then plunged into the canal. According to police, there were 15 people in the SUV.

Sadly, 11 people died on the spot, while 4 others were rescued and are now safe.
The people who lost their lives have been identified as:
- Rambeti (60)
- Saroja Devi (58)
- Raju (30)
- Narendra (32)
- Pankaj (28)
- Aarti (25)
- Gudiya (22)
- Aarav (5)
- Kavita (18)
- Rinku (35)
- Neha (12)
District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan, SP Vineet Jaiswal, and a team from NDRF quickly reached the accident spot. Divers and cranes were used to pull the vehicle out of the canal.
The entire village of Seha is in deep mourning after losing so many of its people.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his deep sorrow over the incident. He shared his condolences with the families and ordered quick rescue work and proper treatment for the injured.
He also announced ₹5 lakh in financial help for each family who lost a loved one.
In a post on social media, the CM wrote:
“The loss of lives in this tragic accident in Gonda is heartbreaking. I offer my prayers for the souls of the deceased and hope their families find the strength to bear this grief. I have asked officials to provide ₹5 lakh to the families and to ensure the injured get proper treatment.”
