Big news for train lovers in India! The much-awaited Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains are likely to hit the tracks from August. If you love travelling long distance by train, this could be a game changer.
The Ministry of Railways is working fast to launch this new version of the Vande Bharat trains. But there’s one big detail still pending — the final route. Right now, there are two top options: Delhi to Howrah or Delhi to Mumbai. Sources say the final decision will come soon from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

A Proud Upgrade for Indian Railways
These Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains are not just faster — they’re smarter, sleeker, and made for overnight comfort. The train will have 24 coaches including AC 3-tier, AC 2-tier, and First AC compartments. Just like the Rajdhani, there will be a dedicated pantry car too. That means better food on the move.
The trains are being made to run at a top speed of 160 km/h. During testing, they’ve even touched 180 km/h! That’s almost bullet-train speed for Indian conditions.
Who’s Building These Trains?
Out of 200 Vande Bharat trains planned, 120 are being made by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) in partnership with Transmashholding, a Russian company. The remaining 80 sleeper trains are being built by BHEL and Titagarh Rail Systems. It’s a mix of Indian engineering and global expertise.
This new move shows how India is stepping up in the world of modern rail travel. For too long, we had to choose between speed and comfort. Now, we can have both.
What Makes It Different?
- Fully air-conditioned compartments
- High-speed overnight travel
- Modern interiors
- Smooth ride with less noise
- Better safety features
The Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains are a proud step towards India’s railway future. It’s not just a train — it’s a statement.
So whether you’re planning a trip to Mumbai or Howrah, hold tight. A brand new travel experience might be just around the corner.
