Actor-turned-politician Vijay has declared that the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections will be a direct contest between his party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), and the ruling DMK. Speaking at the first general council meeting of TVK on Friday, he strongly criticized Chief Minister M K Stalin, accusing him of failing to protect women and allowing Tamil Nadu to be controlled by a single family.
For the first time, Vijay directly mentioned Stalin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech. He alleged that the DMK and BJP have a “secret alliance” and called Stalin’s government “fascist.” He also accused the DMK of stopping TVK’s public meetings and events.

“The 2026 elections will be a fight between TVK and DMK. Let’s prepare for it,” Vijay said in his 15-minute speech. By saying this, he positioned TVK as the main opposition to DMK and sent a warning to AIADMK, which recently showed signs of aligning with the BJP again after 18 months.

Vijay questioned Stalin’s intolerance toward criticism and accused him of favoring only his family. “If the BJP government at the Centre is fascist, then what is your government? It is nothing less than a fascist regime,” he said.
He emphasized that Tamil Nadu is a land of social justice and unity, urging people to vote out DMK if they wanted democracy to survive. He claimed that the state has no proper law and order and predicted that women voters would play a key role in removing the DMK government.
Vijay also had a message for Prime Minister Modi, warning him to handle Tamil Nadu carefully, as the state has been a tough battleground for many politicians.
He further accused the DMK of using the Congress party to win elections and secretly working with the BJP for corrupt activities. “The real boss of DMK is BJP,” he added.
