Vivian Spohr, the wife of Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr, was involved in a tragic car accident in Sardinia, Italy, where a 24-year-old babysitter named Gaia Costa lost her life. Vivian was reportedly on vacation at the time.
According to her lawyer, Angelo Merlini, there have been many false claims spreading about the incident. He clarified that Vivian was not speeding during the accident and did not flee the scene as some reports suggested.

The lawyer explained that Gaia was crossing the road at a zebra crossing and may have raised her hand to signal the car to stop. Unfortunately, the car, a heavy BMW with automatic transmission, still hit her — but at a very low speed.
After the accident, Vivian immediately stopped the car and tried to give first aid to Gaia. During the process, Vivian fainted due to the shock. Later, she returned to Munich but is still cooperating with the Italian authorities. Since she was not legally required to stay in Italy, her departure was not against the law.
Her lawyer said Vivian is deeply sorry for the accident and is willing to assist in the investigation. She also took alcohol and drug tests, both of which were negative.
The statement concluded by saying that although nothing can undo the loss of a young life, Vivian wants to do whatever she can to help and support during this tragic time.
