Just days after launching a brutal tirade against Donald Trump, tech billionaire Elon Musk is walking it back. In a late-night post on X, Musk said he “regrets” some of his comments, admitting they “went too far.”
This comes after a very public feud erupted between Musk and the former president over a controversial tax bill. The drama played out in real time, and for once, it wasn’t just politics as usual—it was personal.

The Fight That Broke the Internet
Last week, Musk torched Trump’s tax policy on X, calling it a “mountain of disgusting pork.” The post went viral fast. Trump clapped back, claiming Musk knew all about the bill and only turned on him once he stepped away from the government role.
Musk fired right back:
“The bill was never shown to me. It was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!”
Then came the real bombshell. Musk posted that Trump’s name appears in the Jeffrey Epstein files—hinting that the documents haven’t gone public because of that.
That post disappeared quickly. But the internet never forgets.
Musk: “Without Me, Trump Would’ve Lost”
In another now-deleted post, Musk claimed Trump wouldn’t have won the election without him.
“Without me, Trump would have lost… Such ingratitude.”
He even teased starting a new political party, posting a poll asking followers if it was time to launch something new in American politics.
Let that sink in—Musk basically threatened to start his own party in the middle of a GOP crisis. The guy doesn’t do subtle.

The Walkback (And Why It Matters)
By midweek, Musk had deleted his more explosive posts and publicly apologized.
“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far.”
The regret may be strategic. The election cycle is heating up. Trump’s base is still massive. And for someone with Musk’s ambitions—both political and commercial—burning bridges is bad business.

Bigger Than Both of Them
This feud isn’t just rich-man drama. It’s a snapshot of the weird merger of tech and politics in America today. When a tech CEO can call out the President, claim credit for his victory, and then backpedal in 48 hours—that says something.
Not about Musk. Not even about Trump.
But about how much chaos we’ve normalized.
