Masked groups stormed and vandalised an Apple Store in downtown LA on Tuesday night, as protests over Trump-ordered immigration raids spiraled into chaos. Police confirmed multiple arrests tied to the looting, which hit major retail outlets including Apple, Adidas, and several dispensaries.
The raids started it. The rage escalated it.
On Friday, the Trump administration kicked off a fresh round of immigration raids. By Tuesday, downtown LA was a protest zone. Crowds gathered, signs were raised—and then the masks came out.

Brendan Gutenschwager, an independent journalist, posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing the looting of the Apple store, writing: “Apple store in downtown LA being looted tonight.” You can see people rushing in and grabbing what they can, like it’s Black Friday without the receipts.

LAPD responds, arrests follow
According to NBC Los Angeles, LAPD officer Chris Miller reported that a woman was caught red-handed at the Apple store and two others were arrested for looting.
Mayor Karen Bass wasn’t having it.
“I have declared a local emergency and issued a curfew for downtown Los Angeles,” she told reporters. From 8 PM Tuesday to 6 AM Wednesday, the city went into lockdown. Her message on X was sharp:
“Anyone who vandalised Downtown or looted stores does not care about our immigrant communities. You will be held accountable.”

The irony? This isn’t helping the cause.
Protests are meant to raise voices—not break windows. Looting an Apple store while chanting for immigrant rights doesn’t just send mixed signals—it sends the wrong ones.
Meanwhile, President Trump doubled down from the White House, warning protestors to steer clear of the upcoming military parade in Washington.
“They’re going to be met with very big force,” he said.
A protest becomes a PR disaster
For those who came out to peacefully protest immigration policies—this night turned their cause into chaos. And for everyday LA residents, it’s another headline that hits too close.
