Elon Musk recently ended his 134-day role at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Just after his announcement, a press conference was held with US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. Musk and Trump answered questions together. Musk said that DOGE will keep getting stronger and its influence will grow. He agreed with Trump, saying, “This is not the end of DOGE, but the beginning.”

Musk wore a black cap with “DOGE” on it and a T-shirt saying “Dogefather.” He said DOGE is more than just a government agency; it’s like a lifestyle, similar to Buddhism. His goal was to save $2 trillion, and although he didn’t reach that, he did help save over $150 billion for the Trump administration.

Elon Musk’s Golden Key
At the event, Trump gave Musk a golden key, saying it is a special honor for special people. Musk is now returning to his businesses like Tesla, X, and SpaceX. Before Musk’s announcement to leave, there was no official news from the government, and Musk and Trump reportedly did not talk much. But at the farewell, they appeared friendly. Trump praised Musk, saying he is a great patriot and that most people in the country appreciate what he did.
As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending.
The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.

What’s Next for DOGE?
People are wondering if DOGE will keep working as a government agency. Musk said he will stay friends with the team. Vivek Ramaswamy might take Musk’s place. Reports say most DOGE employees will stay, and the agency will continue its work to save money and cut costs. Trump promised that saving money will remain a priority.
Musk will focus back on his businesses but said he will still visit DOGE and be an advisor and friend to the President. This was his goodbye after a short time at DOGE.
