India is stepping up its global fight against terrorism by taking a clear message to Sierra Leone and Liberia. Both these African nations hold unique places in the world today.
Sierra Leone is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and part of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Liberia, meanwhile, is an important neighbor with growing influence in the region. India sees these countries as vital partners in spreading its strong anti-terrorism stance.

The delegation, led by Shrikant Shinde — a young Lok Sabha MP and son of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister — is on a diplomatic tour across Africa.
After successful meetings in the UAE and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the team is now focusing on Sierra Leone and Liberia. These visits are not random but carefully chosen to gain support from nations that matter in international diplomacy.
When countries like Sierra Leone and Liberia stand with India against terror sponsors, it strengthens global security. It also helps isolate nations and groups that back terrorism, particularly those trying to harm India. In short, a united front makes India safer and boosts its global image.
Shrikant Shinde’s delegation is pushing Operation Sindoor — a campaign that signals India’s zero tolerance for terrorism. It’s not just about speeches; it’s about building real partnerships.
Even though some places visited have their own issues — Congo with internal unrest and Sierra Leone battling a health crisis — India is undeterred. This shows India’s commitment to its mission, no matter the obstacles.

India’s Strategic Choice: Sierra Leone and Liberia
Sierra Leone’s current role in the UN Security Council and its membership in the OIC make it a key player. India is courting support from OIC members like Kuwait and Bahrain, who have shown signs of backing India’s anti-terror position.
The UAE has also been a strong ally. By involving Sierra Leone and Liberia, India expands its diplomatic network in Africa, challenging terrorism’s reach and influence.
This move is smart. It sends a clear message to Pakistan and other terror sponsors: India is not just fighting terrorism within its borders but is taking the fight worldwide. It’s a fight to protect not just India but all peace-loving nations.
India’s diplomacy in Africa highlights its rise as a global power that’s ready to shape international rules on security. Unlike countries that talk but don’t act, India is on the ground, meeting leaders, and securing promises. This proactive stance is why India is gaining respect on the world stage.
