Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool made history at Wimbledon 2025 by becoming the first all-British men’s doubles team to win the title in 89 years. They beat Rinky Hijikata and David Pel in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6 (3), in the final match on Centre Court.

The last time two British players won this title was back in 1936, when Pat Hughes and Raymond Tuckey claimed the victory. “When you say it out loud, it sounds unbelievable,” said Glasspool during the interview after the match.

Cash and Glasspool’s win at Wimbledon adds to their successful grass-court season, where they also won titles at Queen’s Club and Eastbourne. As the fifth-seeded team, they were expected to do well, and they lived up to the expectations.

“There was a lot of pressure on us,” said Cash. “It’s amazing that we actually did what everyone hoped we would.”

This was the first time both Cash and Glasspool played in a Grand Slam final, making their victory even more special.

Their opponents, Hijikata and Pel, had an unusual start. Dutch player Pel revealed that he and Hijikata didn’t even know each other before the tournament. “We spoke for the first time on the day it started,” Pel shared. Hijikata was hoping to win his second Grand Slam doubles title after winning the Australian Open in 2023.

In the end, it was a dream come true for Cash and Glasspool, as they brought the Wimbledon men’s doubles trophy back to Britain after nearly nine decades.
