To mark World Malaria Day, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) organized a large awareness campaign across schools and public spaces, reaching over 4,700 students and many local residents.
This campaign, under the theme “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite,” aimed to teach people how to prevent mosquito-borne diseases like malaria and dengue.

Students from Classes 7 to 10 in 26 schools were shown practical demonstrations of mosquito larvae and breeding areas for Anopheles and Aedes mosquitoes. They were also taught how to spot and eliminate places where mosquitoes breed around their homes.
As part of the awareness effort, three morning rallies took place in Karave, Shiravane, and Ghansoli, from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM. Around 370 students participated, spreading awareness with slogans and placards.

Street plays were performed at Nerul, Vashi, and Airoli public hospitals to educate patients and visitors about preventing mosquito-borne diseases. Students from Dr. D.Y. Patil Nursing College also staged a play at Ryan International School in Nerul to teach younger children in a fun and interactive way.
In addition, from April 25 to 27, a special awareness camp is being held at the CIDCO Exhibition Centre alongside an international conference by the Maharashtra State Radiologists Association. This camp aims to teach more people about the dangers of mosquito-borne diseases.
NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde encouraged residents to help in preventing diseases by covering water storage containers and removing sources of stagnant water, such as scrap items, from their homes and surroundings.
