Nvidia has announced that its new AI model, designed to power humanoid robots, is now available for everyone to use. This model is called the Nvidia Isaac GR00T N1, or Groot N1 for short. It was introduced at Nvidia’s annual GTC conference in San Jose, California.
During his keynote speech, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said, “The age of generalist robotics is here.” He explained that with the Isaac Groot N1 model, and new tools for generating data and training robots, developers worldwide will be able to push the boundaries of AI-powered robotics.

The Groot N1 model was trained using both real-world data and data created by computers. Nvidia also plans to release the tools and designs for creating this synthetic data, making it easier for developers to train robots. The rise of generative AI is pushing forward the development of humanoid robots that move like humans, making it a realistic goal for the near future.
While companies like X1 and Figure are working on building humanoid robots, Nvidia and Google are focused on providing the AI technology that powers them. Recently, Google DeepMind introduced its own set of AI models for robots, known as Gemini Robotics, to help robots perform complex tasks with precision.
The Groot N1 has a special “dual-system architecture,” which is inspired by how humans think. It has two parts: a “slow-thinking” system that helps robots understand what to do, and a “fast-thinking” system that helps them quickly carry out actions like moving or picking up objects. The Groot N1 is the result of Nvidia’s Project Groot, which was announced last year at the GTC conference.
