The government has launched a new Aadhaar mobile app that lets people verify and share their Aadhaar details digitally — no need to carry a physical card or give photocopies anymore.
The app was introduced by Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, in New Delhi. He said this app will make Aadhaar verification easier, faster, and more secure for everyone.
“This new Aadhaar app uses Face ID for authentication. You don’t need a physical Aadhaar card or any photocopies,” the minister said in a video on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Key Features of the New Aadhaar App:
- Face ID Authentication: You can verify your identity using facial recognition through the app.
- QR Code Scanning: Verification is now as simple as scanning a QR code — just like making a UPI payment.
- Digital Sharing: Users can share only the needed information, safely and with full control.
- Privacy First: Your details are protected and can only be shared with your permission.
- No More Photocopies: Whether you’re at a hotel, shop, airport, or anywhere else — you won’t need to hand over your Aadhaar photocopy anymore.
The app is currently in its beta testing phase, which means it’s being tested before the final version is fully released.
Vaishnaw said the app has strong privacy features to prevent fraud or misuse. It’s built to keep your data safe and secure.
He also said Aadhaar is the backbone of many government services and that the future of digital India will be driven by artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure.
