Sasthra Vedhi Conference Begins in Thiruvananthapuram

The two-day Sasthra Vedhi State conference began in Thiruvananthapuram at Lenin Balavadi on Friday, April 25, 2025. The event started with an inaugural speech by S. Somanath, the former chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

The keynote address was delivered by S. Unnikrishnan Nair, the director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre. Geevarghese Yohannan, chairman of MGM Institutions, was the guest of honour and recognized the women’s editorial board.

During the event, Mr. Somanath and Mr. Unnikrishnan handed out prizes for the Sasthra Thallu science reel contest. Other speakers included Anoop Ambika, CEO of Kerala Startup Mission, K. Kurien Issac, vice president of the Breakthrough Science Society (Kerala chapter), G. Sajan, former chief of Doordarshan programs, Achuthsankar S. Nair, president of Sasthra Vedhi, and Bency Jerome, vice president of Sasthra Vedhi.

In the afternoon, K. Sudhakaran, the president of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee, and V. D. Satheesan, Leader of the Opposition, also spoke at the event.

The conference includes a variety of activities, such as seminars, book releases, screenings of science reels, a student meet, the release of a science magazine, leadership discussions, lectures, study tours, and cultural programs.

On the second day of the event (Saturday), there will be a laser show, a planetary show at the Kerala State Science and Technology Museum, and a visit to the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC).
