Virat Kohli Recreates KL Rahul’s 'This Is My Ground' Celebration

Do you remember when KL Rahul celebrated by saying “this is my ground” after leading Delhi Capitals to victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) earlier this month? In that match, Rahul scored 93 not out off 53 balls, helping Delhi chase down RCB’s target of 164 in just 17.5 overs.

Rahul’s celebration stood out in two ways. First, after hitting a six, he drew a circle on the ground with his bat and then tapped the middle. Later, when Delhi won, he thumped his chest and pointed at the ground, implying that it was his territory. Rahul explained that this celebration was inspired by his favorite movie, Kantara.

This Sunday, it was Virat Kohli’s turn to guide RCB to a six-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals. Kohli played a steady innings of 51 runs, leading RCB to chase down Delhi’s target of 163 with nine balls remaining.

During the post-match celebrations, while Rahul was chatting with teammate Karun Nair, Kohli walked over and performed the same Kantara celebration. The two laughed together, showing there was no hard feelings.

Rahul had explained his original celebration by saying, “This is a special place for me. That celebration was from one of my favorite movies, Kantara. It’s a tiny reminder that this ground, this turf, this home, is where I have grown up and this is mine.”

RCB’s win over Delhi lifted them to the top of the IPL 2025 standings, and Kohli’s 51-run knock also put him at the top of the Orange Cap charts. RCB remains unbeaten away from home in IPL 2025, although they’ve faced some challenges this season.
