In Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district, police have detained 90 people from Bangladesh, including 28 children. They were found during a routine check at brick kilns in Khajpur village.
Police said these people were taken into custody for questioning. According to police officer Shlok Kumar, the checking was part of a campaign to verify the identity and legal status of labourers working in rural areas.

He added, “They claimed to have arrived in Mathura around 3–4 months ago and were previously living in another nearby state. A detailed investigation is ongoing, and other agencies have also been informed and are involved in the questioning.”
This comes as part of a wider effort by the Uttar Pradesh government to find and deport illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants in the state.
Earlier, action was taken against illegal Pakistani residents in UP. Now, authorities are focusing on identifying and deporting Bangladeshi and Rohingya nationals. Many of them are suspected to be living under fake names across different districts.
All District Magistrates, SSPs, and Police Commissioners have been asked to speed up the process of identifying such people. At the same time, action is also being taken to remove illegal structures along the India-Nepal border.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, Uttar Pradesh is the first state to successfully deport all Pakistani nationals living illegally. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is personally monitoring this effort.
