Tata.ev, the electric vehicle (EV) branch of Tata Motors, has opened its first 10 MegaCharger stations with help from ChargeZone and Statiq. This is part of Tata.ev’s plan to increase the number of EV charging points in India to 40,000 by the year 2027.

Tata.ev is leading India’s move towards more electric vehicles with a program called ‘Open Collaboration.’ This program helps Tata.ev work with many charging operators and fuel companies to build more charging stations, especially on busy highways. The goal is to make it easier for people to drive electric cars long distances without worrying about running out of charge.
These new MegaChargers provide very fast charging and are placed at important highways and city spots. Tata.ev plans to install 500 such MegaChargers all over India.
Details about the MegaChargers:
- Each station has super-fast chargers that give power between 120 kW and 400 kW.
- For example, the Vadodara station on the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Highway can charge six cars at the same time.
- In just 15 minutes, a car can get enough charge to drive about 150 kilometers.
- The first stations are located on these highways and cities:
- Mumbai–Ahmedabad Highway (Vadodara, Vapi, Ghodbunder)
- Delhi–Jaipur Highway (four stations about 60 km apart)
- Pune–Nashik Highway
- Bengaluru’s Electronic City
- Udaipur City

Balaje Rajan, Tata.ev’s Chief Strategy Officer, said the company wants to remove worries about charging and offer fast, reliable charging for EV owners. Leaders from Statiq and ChargeZone agreed, saying this teamwork will help build a strong charging network across the country for the future.
