The shooting of Bhoot Bangla is officially complete. Akshay Kumar, the star of this upcoming horror-comedy, confirmed the wrap with a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram. The clip shows him and co-star Wamiqa Gabbi filming a serene song near a waterfall.

The film, directed by Priyadarshan, is scheduled to release in theatres on April 2, 2026. Bhoot Bangla marks the seventh collaboration between Akshay and the veteran filmmaker, following their 2010 hit Khatta Meetha.

Also, Wamiqa Gabbi stepping into a major commercial project like this? That’s one to watch. She’s been on the rise across streaming platforms and indie films. Now she’s pairing up with one of Bollywood’s biggest names.

Akshay’s emotional post adds charm

Along with the video, Akshay wrote a heartfelt caption:

“And that’s a wrap on #BhoothBangla! My seventh madcap adventure with the ever-inventive Priyan sir, my second outing with the unstoppable Ekta, and my first but hopefully not the last, magical journey with the ever-surprising Wamiqa. Grateful for the madness, the magic, and the memories.”

This message isn’t just PR—it shows the camaraderie behind the camera. Akshay and Priyadarshan share a bond that goes beyond work, and it’s exciting to see that spark reignited.

What to expect from Bhoot Bangla

The first look of Bhoot Bangla was revealed on Akshay Kumar’s birthday in 2024, and fans have been buzzing ever since. With a supporting cast packed with comedy legends like Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani—plus powerhouse performers like Tabu and Jisshu Sengupta—the film isn’t short on talent.

Produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor under Balaji Telefilms, and co-produced by Akshay’s own Cape of Good Films, the project clearly carries commercial ambition.

According to early reports, the plot weaves together haunted mansions, mistaken identities, and over-the-top humour—with Priyadarshan’s classic flair for chaos.

Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan are a proven duo. Think Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Garam Masala. While each film had its own flavour, the common thread was unpredictability—and genuine laughter. With Bhoot Bangla, they seem to be going back to that formula with a horror twist.

As Akshay has shifted more toward action and patriotism in recent years, his return to comedy is refreshing. It’s also good timing. The audience has missed him in a lighter, loony avatar.

Let’s be honest—Bollywood’s been a little too intense lately. Everyone’s either saving the nation or crying in slo-mo. Bhoot Bangla is that rare upcoming film that doesn’t pretend to be deep. It just wants to entertain. And sometimes, that’s exactly what the audience needs.
