Customer Frustration Grows
The Aprilia RS 457 was supposed to be the brand’s proud flag-bearer in India’s middleweight segment. And for a while, it was. Fans loved the parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine. It looked sharp, felt fast, and came in at a price that seemed too good to be true. Turns out, for some riders—it was.
Several users began reporting engine troubles, sparking concerns across social media and biking forums. You could almost hear the clutch slipping on Aprilia’s India momentum.
Aprilia Responds—Blames Mods and Missed Service
In a statement, Aprilia India said it had “investigated every reported issue” and found that most problems stemmed from unauthorized aftermarket modifications and irregular service schedules.
Translation: If you tweaked it yourself, they’re not taking the fall.
Still, Aprilia did admit a few genuine cases existed, and claimed they were “addressed promptly to minimize disruption.”
To prevent further issues, Aprilia now strongly recommends using only genuine accessories and modifications from authorized service centers.

The Aprilia RS 457 is still a powerful contender. It shares its engine with the Tuono 457 and still appeals to sportbike lovers looking for an affordable, high-performance option. But the recent backlash shows one thing clearly: in India, brand love doesn’t last if reliability doesn’t ride along.
Aprilia made a bold move with the RS 457 in India. But the thrill of speed must be matched by the comfort of trust. Until then, even die-hard fans will think twice before twisting that throttle.
