Sierra Leone is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and part of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Liberia, meanwhile, is an important neighbor with growing influence in the region. India sees these countries as vital partners in spreading its strong anti-terrorism stance.
The delegation, led by Shrikant Shinde — a young Lok Sabha MP and son of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister — is on a diplomatic tour across Africa.
After successful meetings in the UAE and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the team is now focusing on Sierra Leone and Liberia. These visits are not random but carefully chosen to gain support from nations that matter in international diplomacy.
