Hamas Agrees to Free Hostages; Calls for War to End

On Saturday, Hamas said it agreed to free 28 hostages—10 alive and 18 bodies of those who died. But they want the war to stop and Israeli soldiers to leave Gaza.

Hamas responded to a peace plan supported by the US. They said the plan is for a long-term ceasefire, which means stopping the fighting permanently.

Earlier, Israel accepted the US plan. According to Israeli officials, the plan would pause fighting for 60 days and allow the United Nations to send aid to people in Gaza.

A Hamas official said their reply to the US envoy Steve Witkoff’s proposals was “positive” but they want some changes.
