India’s Active COVID Cases Surge – Is Your State on the Danger List? Full List Inside

COVID

India’s active Covid-19 count rose to 3,961 on June 2, with 203 new cases and four deaths reported in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). The rise comes as officials confirm that most cases are mild and require minimal hospitalisation.

But here’s the twist: the virus may be weakening, but it’s not gone. For the average person, it means staying alert—even if the symptoms feel like just a cold. It’s 2025, and Covid still finds its way into our calendars.

Kerala: Leading the Caseload

Kerala leads the pack with 1,435 active cases, despite only 35 new infections on Sunday. A 24-year-old woman with chronic liver disease succumbed to the virus—bringing the state’s death count for 2025 to seven, tied for the highest with Maharashtra.

Delhi: Fastest Daily Surge

Delhi saw 47 new cases, the highest one-day spike nationwide, pushing its active tally to 483. A 22-year-old woman with a lung condition passed away, marking Delhi’s fourth death in this wave.

Last week, CM Rekha Gupta said the situation is under control. Only 19 patients are hospitalised, and beds with oxygen support are ready if needed.

Maharashtra: Moderate But Worrisome

Maharashtra has 506 active cases after reporting 21 new ones. Pune and Mumbai remain the state’s hotspots. A 44-year-old man with complications died, making Maharashtra one of two states with seven deaths since January.

West Bengal: Quiet Climb

With 44 new infections, West Bengal has 331 active cases—the second-highest daily rise. No deaths were reported, but officials warn of incomplete public data.

Gujarat & Karnataka: Steady But Cautious

Gujarat sits at 338 active cases, with a stable trend and no fresh deaths. Karnataka reported one death linked to multiple comorbidities. Authorities there have issued a mask and hygiene advisory.

The Smaller Numbers Still Matter

  • Odisha: 12 mild cases
  • Andhra Pradesh: Public alert issued
  • Punjab: 6 active cases, 1 death
  • Haryana (Gurugram): 12 cases after two quiet years

What’s Driving It?

India has recorded 28 Covid-19 deaths in 2025. The dominant strains—Omicron subvariants LF.7, XFG, JN.1, and NB.1.8.1—are not linked to severe illness, says ICMR Director General Dr. Rajiv Bahl.

Good news? Yes. But if the virus has taught us anything, it’s this: ignore it, and it’ll show up in your lungs and your newsfeed.

Stay Informed, Not Alarmed

The virus isn’t vanishing. But with 383 recoveries in the past 24 hours, the trend is still manageable. No lockdown talk. No panic. Just smart behavior.

If you’re sneezing, wear a mask. If you’re coughing, get tested. And if you’re hearing about cases rising but doing nothing—well, that’s how 2020 started.
