Indore Couple Missing in Meghalaya, Man Found Dead

A couple from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, went missing in Meghalaya during their honeymoon. On Monday, the body of the husband was found, while the search for his wife is still going on, according to police.

The couple, Raja Raghuwanshi and his wife Sonam, had gone to Sohra (also known as Cherrapunji) in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district. They were reported missing on May 23, just a few days after they arrived for their honeymoon. They had gotten married on May 11 and left for Meghalaya on May 20.

Police said Raja’s body was found on Monday and was identified by his brother, Vipin Raghuwanshi. The exact cause and time of death will be known after the post-mortem report is completed.

Indore police officer Rajesh Kumar Tripathi said that so far, there is no information about Sonam’s whereabouts.

Earlier, Raja’s other brother, Sachin Raghuwanshi, had said that he believed the couple might have been kidnapped. He had even requested that the army be brought in to help with the search. He also raised concerns about the involvement of local hotel staff, guides, and two-wheeler rental services in the couple’s disappearance.

The family runs a transport business in Indore and is still hoping for answers.
