Musk vs Trump Explodes: Russia Jumps In, Offers Safe Haven to the Billionaire Rebel

Russia has offered Elon Musk political asylum after his very public clash with U.S. President Donald Trump took a dramatic turn. The offer came from Russian lawmaker Dmitry Novikov, who said that while Musk might not need asylum, Russia would “of course” welcome him if he did.

This comes just days after former Trump advisor Steve Bannon went on a public tirade, calling Musk an “illegal alien” and even suggesting the U.S. government seize SpaceX. Yes, you read that right—Bannon wants the government to nationalize a private space company. And you thought 2024 couldn’t get weirder.

Russia Sees an Opening—and Takes It

Dmitry Rogozin, Russia’s ex-space boss, even posted on Musk’s platform X:
“If you encounter insurmountable problems in the U.S., come to us.”

Another official, Dmitry Medvedev, joked that Russia would broker peace between “D and E” (Trump and Elon) in exchange for Starlink shares. Not exactly the kind of thing you’d expect from a former president, but here we are.

Elon @elonmusk , don’t be upset! You are respected in Russia. If you encounter insurmountable problems in the US, come to us and become one of us – a “Bars-Sarmat” fighter. Here you will find reliable comrades and complete freedom of technical creativity.

Margarita Simonyan, head of Russia’s RT network, took a swing at the U.S., mocking the whole feud as a sign of America’s political collapse:
“Sort of like the English Industrial Revolution. Only in reverse.”

Political Banter or Strategic Move?

While the Kremlin’s official line is “no comment”—with spokesman Dmitry Peskov saying it’s a U.S. domestic issue—the swarm of Russian reactions suggests something else. Moscow sees this as a chance to undermine U.S. credibility while signaling that it’s ready to play host to anyone disillusioned by American politics.

Musk, who’s often at odds with both Republicans and Democrats, hasn’t responded to the asylum offer. But given his rebellious streak, don’t be surprised if he plays along—if only for the memes.

Russia’s pitch to Elon Musk might sound like a punchline, but it highlights a deeper absurdity: America’s political climate has gotten so chaotic that even its billionaires are being dragged into nationalist showdowns.

In 2025, diplomacy is less about treaties—and more about tweets.
