Air India made headlines once again on Friday when a Delhi-bound flight made an emergency landing in Phuket, Thailand, due to a bomb threat. The incident came just a day after another Air India flight tragically crashed in Ahmedabad, killing nearly all on board.

The Air India flight had taken off from Phuket at 9.30 am with 156 passengers on board. Shortly afterwards, a phone call raised a bomb alarm. The crew acted quickly and turned back, safely landing in Phuket.

Air India in Crisis: An Unfortunate Series of Events

This incident came just a day after Air India flight AI 171 crashed into residential buildings in Ahmedabad. At least 265 people were killed in that tragedy, including the plane’s passengers and people on the ground. The Home Minister, Amit Shah, explained, “There were 1.25 lakh litres of fuel in the plane, and it made rescue nearly impossible.”

The two back-to-back emergencies raised eyebrows. Is this a coincidence or a sign of a growing vulnerability?

Air India’s Bomb Threat — Here’s What Happened

The Air India flight was en route from Phuket to Delhi when the phone call came in. The flight made a dramatic turn back and landed safely in Phuket. All 156 passengers were removed in an orderly fashion and kept at a safe distance while authorities investigated the incident.

Thai authorities have not yet revealed the details of the phone call. But this isn’t the first time Air India has dealt with hoax messages — last year alone, nearly 1,000 fake calls were made about bombs on Indian aircraft and airports.

Air India’s Rising Security Concern — Is It Time To Be More Strict?

The incident highlights a growing challenge for Air India and airports across the world — dealing with a flood of fake threats and hoax calls. Although this may seem like a joke to some, the cost — in time, resources, and fear — is very real.

“It’s a dramatic twist in Air India’s story this week — from tragedy in Ahmedabad to a phone call threatening another flight. It’s a wild ride no one wants a boarding pass for!”
