Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy believes that both management and technology graduates play equally important roles in today’s world, especially with the rise of artificial intelligence (AI).

In a recent interview, Murthy said he doesn’t see one group as better than the other. Instead, he explained that they solve problems in different but connected ways. “Management graduates ask ‘what needs to be done,’ while tech graduates focus on ‘how to do it,’” he said. Both skills are needed to solve problems completely.

Murthy said AI doesn’t give an advantage to one group—it helps everyone. He called AI a “technological marvel” that boosts productivity and helps solve problems that humans alone cannot. This means both tech and management professionals can use AI to do their jobs better.

He also said he has a lot of faith in India’s students, whether they are studying management or technology. “They are some of the brightest minds in the country,” he said, adding that he is very hopeful about the future.

Murthy’s comments come at a time when many people are debating which career path is more valuable. His message is clear: both management and tech skills are important, and both can work together to create a better future.
