Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath recently shared his views on the future of education and jobs. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he questioned the relevance of traditional college degrees in the next 10 years.

Kamath believes that the era of four-year college courses is coming to an end. Instead, lifelong learning will become the new norm. He shared an infographic based on the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025, which highlights how jobs and skills are changing due to the rise of technologies like artificial intelligence (AI).

The report shows that by 2030, about 39% of the current job skills may become outdated, especially in countries like India. As AI, big data, cybersecurity, and creative thinking grow rapidly, Kamath points out that people will need to constantly upgrade their skills to stay relevant in the job market.

According to the WEF report:

  • 92 million jobs may be lost by 2030.
  • At the same time, 170 million new jobs may be created in fields like technology, agriculture, and gig work.

Kamath’s message is clear: to succeed in the future, people must focus on learning new skills rather than relying only on traditional degrees.
