Greg Josephson, a well-known Australian businessman and co-founder of Universal Store, was tragically stabbed to death during a house party he hosted at his mansion in Clayfield, a suburb of Brisbane, on Thursday night.

The 59-year-old CEO was hosting a party attended by about 30 teenagers. According to reports, he got into an argument with a 15-year-old boy at the party. During the fight, the teen allegedly picked up a household item and used it to stab Josephson.

When Queensland Police arrived at the scene, Josephson was still alive but seriously injured. Unfortunately, he died shortly afterward.

The teenager accused of the stabbing was arrested just two blocks away from the house. Police confirmed that they found the weapon used in the attack but did not share more details. Officers described the scene as chaotic, with confusion among the party guests when police arrived.

Detective Acting Superintendent Craig Williams told the Brisbane Times that it took some time for everyone at the party to realize the seriousness of the situation. A triple-zero emergency call was made, but it’s still unclear if someone from inside the house made it.

Greg Josephson and his brother Michael started the Universal Store in 1999, opening their first store in Carindale, Brisbane. They sold the business for $100 million in 2018. Today, there are over 80 Universal Store outlets across Australia.

At the time of his death, Josephson was the CEO of Josephson Holdings and had also worked at major companies like Westfield and Lendlease in the past.

Authorities are still investigating the full details of the incident.
