YouTube has introduced a new AI-powered search feature that makes finding videos faster and easier. This new feature works like Google’s “AI Overviews” and is currently available to YouTube Premium users in the US.
What’s New in Search?
When users search for topics like travel, shopping, or local activities, YouTube will now show a carousel (scrollable row) of video snippets. These snippets will include AI-generated summaries and handpicked videos.
For example, if someone searches for “best beaches in Hawaii,” they’ll see a row of video clips showing popular snorkeling spots or volcanic beaches, along with short AI-written descriptions to help plan their trip.

This feature is part of YouTube’s bigger plan to bring more AI tools to its platform. Along with this, YouTube is also testing its AI chatbot tool with some non-Premium users. This tool can:
- Answer questions,
- Summarize videos, and
- Suggest related content — all while the video keeps playing.
New Age Rules for Live Streaming
Starting July 22, YouTube is changing the minimum age for live streaming.
- Users must be at least 16 years old to live stream alone.
- Previously, users aged 13–15 could live stream only if an adult was present on screen.
- Now, that rule will apply to all users under 16.
If a live stream features someone aged 13–15 without an adult present, YouTube may:
- Turn off the live chat, or
- Temporarily remove access to some features.
These changes are being made to make YouTube a safer space for younger users.
