The Libertarian Party, the third-largest political party in the U.S., has sent a message to Elon Musk: “Don’t make the mistake of starting a new party — join us instead!”

Steven Nekhaila, the Chair of the Libertarian National Committee, told Politico that starting a brand-new political party would be a bad idea. He believes that the Libertarian Party is already well-prepared to act as a strong opposition group. According to him, “The Libertarian Party is already set up to be the voice of people who want change.”

He mentioned the party’s annual budget is between $1 million and $3 million, and once enough funds come in, they can do a lot more. Elon Musk hasn’t responded to this offer yet.

Musk’s Plan for a New “America Party”

Recently, Elon Musk has been talking about starting a new political group called the “America Party.” His motivation? Frustration over a massive government spending bill.

He posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day.” He also said that both major U.S. parties — Democrat and Republican — don’t represent the people anymore.

In another post, Musk slammed the bill for raising the U.S. debt ceiling by $5 trillion, calling the current system the “PORKY PIG PARTY.” He said, “It’s time for a political party that actually cares about the people.”

Musk also criticized members of Congress who campaigned on cutting spending but then supported this bill. He posted, “They should hang their heads in shame — and I’ll do everything I can to make sure they lose in the next elections.”

So far, Musk has invested over $250 million in the 2024 elections, mostly through his own group, America PAC, but has not confirmed whether he will go ahead with launching his own political party or accept the Libertarian Party’s invitation.
