Donald Trump has done it again. He’s putting the world on notice. From August 1, countries that haven’t made a deal with the U.S. will start paying tariffs—big ones.
At a late-night press briefing on Thursday, the former U.S. President told reporters that his team will begin sending out letters starting Friday. “We’re sending about 10 or 12 letters now, and more will go out in the coming days,” Trump said. These letters will tell each country exactly how much they’ll have to pay.
And it’s not a small number. According to Trump, the new tariffs will range from 10% to a massive 70%. “They’ll be fully covered,” he added, meaning these tariffs won’t spare anyone. No discounts. No exceptions.
The Clock Is Ticking
This isn’t a sudden move. Trump had warned that if countries don’t sign trade deals by July 9, they’ll face new tariffs. Now that deadline is almost here, and time’s up for many.
So far, the U.S. has made deals with the UK and Vietnam. There’s also a temporary truce with China, cooling down tensions between the two largest economies. But for everyone else—letters are coming.
Trump isn’t bluffing. And this isn’t just about numbers. It’s about sending a message: Make a deal or pay the price.

Why It Matters
For years, Trump has pushed his “America First” policy, demanding better trade terms for the U.S. His goal? Bring back jobs. Boost American industries. Stop what he calls “unfair trade”.

Still, Trump is clear: he won’t back down.
