India’s young cricket star, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, is making big headlines after his explosive performance in the fourth ODI of the Youth series against England Under-19. The 14-year-old scored a brilliant century in just 52 balls, smashing 10 fours and 7 sixes in Worcester on Saturday.

Suryavanshi celebrated his century by raising his arms, removing his helmet, and soaking in the crowd’s loud cheers. He was finally dismissed for 143 runs off just 78 balls, with a total of 13 fours and 10 sixes in his innings. England’s Ben Mayes was the bowler who got him out.

With this century, Vaibhav broke the record for the fastest century in Men’s Youth ODIs, beating Pakistan’s Kamran Ghulam, who held the previous record with a 53-ball hundred.

He started his innings cautiously, adjusting to the conditions, but once he settled in, he attacked all the English bowlers. Whether pace or spin, no bowler was spared. Even after losing his opening partner Ayush Mhatre early, Suryavanshi teamed up with Vihaan Malhotra, who supported him while Vaibhav dominated the game.

One of the commentators even said, “Vaibhav Suryavanshi is like Yuvraj Singh on steroids,” praising his powerful and fearless batting. Another added, “I haven’t seen better hitting than this in England. This boy is a genius.”

IPL Breakthrough

Before this match, Vaibhav had already shown his talent in the IPL 2025 playing for Rajasthan Royals. He made headlines by scoring 101 runs off 38 balls against Gujarat Titans, taking down big bowlers like Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma, and Prasidh Krishna.

He became the youngest-ever centurion in T20 cricket, and was signed by Rajasthan Royals for INR 1.10 crore at the age of just 13 in the IPL mega auction.

Rising Career

This wasn’t his first big performance. Earlier, he had hit a 58-ball century against Australia U-19 in a four-day match and played an important role in India’s journey to the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup 2024, where he scored 176 runs at an average of 44.

Just before this match, Vaibhav and his teammates had visited Edgbaston to watch India’s Test match, where he saw Shubman Gill’s double century live—an experience that seemed to inspire his own incredible performance.
