Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has launched a new political party in the United States called the America Party. He announced it on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), saying,

“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it! Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”

This statement came after Musk conducted a poll on X, where over 65% of users supported the idea of creating a new political party.

Tesla CFO Vaibhav Taneja joins as Treasurer

After forming the party, Musk appointed Vaibhav Taneja, Tesla’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), as the Treasurer and Custodian of Records for the America Party.

According to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Taneja will be in charge of managing financial records, campaign donations, and ensuring the party follows all rules.

Who is Vaibhav Taneja?

Vaibhav Taneja is an Indian-American executive who started his career in India. Later, in 2006, he also became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the United States.

Taneja worked for 17 years at PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers), gaining experience in finance, auditing, and regulations. He worked in both India and the US during this time.

In 2016, he joined SolarCity, a solar energy company that later became part of Tesla. After the merger in 2017, Taneja moved up the ranks at Tesla:

  • Chief Financial Officer (2023)

“It’s always been a two-party system. Third parties have never worked. He can have fun with it, but I think it’s ridiculous.”

Trump also said the Republican Party is strong and successful, unlike what he called Musk’s “train wreck” of a political idea.
