On his 76th birthday, cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar made headlines not for cricket, but for his love of tennis. Speaking with former Indian tennis player Vijay Amritraj, Gavaskar shared his excitement for Wimbledon 2025 and even predicted the final match.

Gavaskar praised Carlos Alcaraz from Spain, calling him the player currently showing the “best tennis.” However, he also believes Novak Djokovic will reach the final by beating Jannik Sinner in the semi-final. Recalling last year’s Wimbledon final where Alcaraz defeated Djokovic, Gavaskar said he hopes Djokovic can win this time and grab his 25th Grand Slam title.

Interestingly, Gavaskar revealed that when he’s in England during Wimbledon, he prefers going to the tennis tournament rather than watching cricket at Lord’s, the famous “Home of Cricket.” He joked, “I come to Wimbledon more than I go to Lord’s – unless it’s a final.”

Sunil Gavaskar is a legendary Indian cricketer who played 233 international matches, scored over 13,000 runs, and was the first player to score 10,000 runs in Test cricket. He was especially known for facing the world’s fastest bowlers with great skill.

Meanwhile, during the third Test at Lord’s, India had a strong start, with England at 83/2 by lunch, thanks to Nitish Kumar Reddy’s double strike in one over. The five-match series is tied 1-1 after India’s big win at Edgbaston by 336 runs.
