India faced a heartbreaking loss in the third Test match at Lord’s on Monday, as England won by 22 runs and took a 2-1 lead in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series.

Chasing a target with 135 runs to win and six wickets in hand at the start of Day 5, India looked in a strong position. However, things quickly went wrong. India lost three quick wickets—Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Washington Sundar—for just 11 runs in the morning session.

KL Rahul, who scored a century in the first innings, could only manage 39 in the second. Pant got out for 9, and Sundar was dismissed for a duck (0). Nitish Reddy also fell early, scoring just 13 runs.

India was left struggling at 112/8, with only Ravindra Jadeja and the tailenders left to fight. Jadeja showed great determination, staying unbeaten on 61 runs from 181 balls. He tried his best to take India home, but the pressure was too much.

Jasprit Bumrah supported Jadeja for a while, defending bravely for 54 balls, while Mohammed Siraj faced 30 deliveries. But England’s bowlers were just too good. Bumrah was dismissed after a ball hit his stumps, and Siraj’s wicket ended India’s hopes.

Jofra Archer (3 wickets for 55 runs) and Ben Stokes (3 for 48) were the stars for England with the ball.

Despite Jadeja’s fighting spirit, India couldn’t hold on, and England celebrated a crucial win, taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match series with two games still to go.
