Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem has spoken out about fake promises made to him after his historic win at the Paris Olympics. Nadeem, who made history with a record-breaking javelin throw of 92.97 meters—beating India’s Neeraj Chopra—shared his disappointment over not receiving land plots that were promised to him.

In an interview, Nadeem said, “All the plot announcements were fake. I didn’t receive any of them. I only got the cash prizes that were announced.”

His victory was Pakistan’s first-ever gold in track and field, and it brought in many rewards from government bodies and private organisations. But not all of them were fulfilled.

Despite this, Arshad remains focused on training. He said, “My full focus is on myself, and I also help train young athletes along with my coach Salman Butt.”

Recently, Arshad underwent surgery in the UK due to a calf injury. The operation was carried out in Cambridge under Dr. Ali Bajwa’s care. Doctors found partial damage in his calf muscle that needed urgent surgery.

His coach has not confirmed how long it will take for Arshad to recover fully. However, Arshad is expected to return to action at the Diamond League event in Silesia, Poland, on August 16. This will be his first competition against Neeraj Chopra since the Olympics.

Even with setbacks, Arshad Nadeem continues to inspire and stay committed to both his own career and the development of future athletes in Pakistan.
