Famous singer and music composer Adnan Sami recently shared a touching story about his emotional bond with the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, he remembered how Lata ji sang a song for his father when he was on his deathbed.
Lata Mangeshkar Sang for His Ailing Father
Adnan revealed that during his father’s final days, he was suffering from pancreatic cancer and was in a very weak condition in a Mumbai hospital. Feeling helpless and emotional, Adnan decided to call Lata Mangeshkar, knowing she had met his father years ago.
He said, “I told her about my father’s condition and asked if she could speak to him. When I handed the phone to my father, who was half asleep, his face lit up after hearing it was Lata ji. He told her that he had been listening to her music since childhood. His favorite song was ‘Dheere Se Aaja’, and she sang it for him right there on the call. Tears rolled down his eyes, and he looked peaceful.”
Adnan shared that this moment showed how special Lata ji was to him and his family.
Lata Mangeshkar’s Love for Photography
Adnan also spoke about another side of Lata Mangeshkar—her love for photography and editing. When Adnan’s daughter was born, he sent pictures of her to Lata ji while he was in Germany. She would edit those pictures, zoom in on the cute parts, colour-correct them, crop them, and send them back to him. He said, “She really enjoyed it and always made the pictures look even better.”
Adnan fondly remembered her as someone very special, not just as a legendary singer but also as a kind and caring person.
