Syngene International, a company under Biocon, reported a strong 59% increase in its net profit for the April–June quarter of 2025. The company earned ₹87 crore in profit, mainly due to higher revenue and a tax benefit it received after transferring gratuity funds to an employee trust.

The company’s revenue from business operations rose by 11%, reaching ₹875 crore. Its EBITDA (a measure of operating profit) increased by 19% to ₹224 crore, with profit margins improving to 25% compared to 23% last year.

Syngene’s CEO, Peter Bains, said the strong performance was driven by turning pilot research projects into long-term contracts in their Research Services division. The company also made progress at its new Biologics Unit III in Bengaluru and is preparing to launch a new site called Bayview in the US later this year. It also opened a new peptide lab this quarter.

In Q1, the company went through more than 20 inspections by clients and regulators. This included a clean inspection by the USFDA (United States Food and Drug Administration) at its Human Pharmacology Unit. Its Biologics facility also received a report from USFDA that required only voluntary improvements.

Syngene’s CFO, Deepak Jain, mentioned that profit margins remained strong at around 24%, thanks to revenue growth and cost savings. The company said it is well on track to meet its targets for the full year.
