Actor John Abraham has officially begun filming his new movie, a biopic on former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria. This is his first project with popular director Rohit Shetty.

Real Locations to Studio Setups

The team started shooting in South Mumbai, using real locations to give the film a realistic feel. Now, they’ve moved to Ellora Studios in Mira Road. A police station set has been built there, and John is currently filming some serious interrogation scenes.

A source shared that the shift to an indoor setup was planned. “South Mumbai scenes gave a real-world look. Now, we’ve moved to a controlled environment,” the source said. These indoor scenes focus on dramatic police investigations that Maria handled during his career.

A Gritty and Serious Film

Unlike Rohit Shetty’s usual action-packed cop movies, this film is being made as a serious and intense drama. It will explore the emotional and psychological side of Rakesh Maria, known for handling many of Mumbai’s toughest and most dangerous cases.

Currently, the team is focused on filming indoor scenes to avoid delays due to the rainy season. About 50 to 100 people are working on the set every day, showing the film’s large scale and importance.

Action Scenes Coming Soon

Although the film is mostly serious, it will still include five major action scenes. These are planned to be shot towards the end of August. Post-production work will begin soon after.

So far, filming has taken place at important Mumbai locations like the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dongri, and the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. These places are key to showing the life and journey of Rakesh Maria.

This film promises to be a different kind of police drama—gritty, emotional, and deeply rooted in real events.
