A shocking video has come from Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh showing a cofferdam (a temporary dam) collapsing at the Malana-I Hydropower Project. The dam burst after continuous heavy rains and flash floods hit the area.
Due to the sudden collapse, strong river currents swept away heavy vehicles and machines like a hydra crane, dumper truck, camper, and rock breaker. The river was flowing with full force, causing panic in nearby areas.

This incident adds to the large-scale damage caused by the monsoon across the state. The State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) shared that:
- 383 roads are still blocked
- 747 power transformers have stopped working
- 249 water supply systems are not working
Since the start of the monsoon, 173 people have lost their lives in rain-related events and road accidents, according to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA). Out of these:
- 95 people died in events like landslides, flash floods, and house collapses
- 78 people died in road accidents, many caused by slippery roads and poor visibility
Photos and videos from many areas in Himachal show landslides, overflowing rivers, and damaged roads, showing just how serious the situation is.

The Meteorological Department has also warned that more heavy rainfall is expected in the coming days. Authorities are asking people to stay alert and avoid travelling in dangerous areas.
