Rain Alert: IMD Issues Red Warning for Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, and More States; Delhi-NCR Likely to Get More Rain

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and West Bengal on August 3 due to very heavy rainfall.

Other states like Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu are under an orange alert, which means heavy rain is expected but not as severe as red alert zones.

Rainfall Warnings by IMD:

Red Alert (Very Heavy to Extremely Heavy Rain) – August 3:

  • Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim

Orange Alert (Heavy Rain Likely):

  • Kerala & Ghat Areas of Tamil Nadu – August 5
  • Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab – Next 3 Days
  • Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh – Until August 6
  • Uttarakhand – Until August 8
  • East Uttar Pradesh, Northeast Rajasthan – Until August 5
  • Tamil Nadu, Kerala – Until August 8
  • Coastal & North Interior Karnataka – August 5 to 8
  • Coastal Andhra Pradesh – Next 2 Days
  • Rayalaseema – Until August 6

 Other Rain Updates:

  • Isolated heavy rain expected in:
    • Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim – Until August 8
    • Gangetic West Bengal – August 7
    • Jharkhand – August 3
    • Bihar – August 3, 4, 7, and 8
    • Madhya Pradesh – August 3 and 4

 Delhi-NCR Weather Update:

  • No specific warning for Delhi-NCR, but the region saw heavy showers on Sunday morning.
  • IMD says the sky will remain mostly cloudy.
  • Light to moderate rain and thunder are expected.
  • Temperatures in Delhi:
    • Maximum: 31–33°C
    • Minimum: 24–26°C
