Pune Businessman Murdered in Bihar After Cyber Fraud Lured

A businessman from Pune, Laxman Sadhu Shinde, was found murdered in Bihar’s Jehanabad district after traveling to Patna for what seemed like a business deal. He arrived in Patna on April 11 after receiving an email offering a large order for mining equipment worth crores, which led him to believe it was a legitimate business opportunity.

Shinde sent a message to his daughter around 8:30 PM on the day he arrived, saying he was heading to Jharkhand. That was the last time his family heard from him.

Shinde was kidnapped by a gang of criminals who specialize in extortion and kidnapping. The gang operates across multiple states and has been involved in several such cases. The police have arrested seven people, including a woman, and are questioning others. Among those arrested is the gang leader, Ranjit Patel, along with five others, including Vipatara Kumar, Lalbihari, Vikas, Kundan Kumar, and Sangita Kumari.

The police began investigating when Shinde’s family reported him missing on April 12. They traced his last location using CCTV footage, which showed that he was abducted near the Patna airport. A special team was formed, and the vehicle used in the kidnapping was found in Vaishali, leading to the arrest of several people.

The investigation revealed that the gang was involved in several kidnappings and murders in other states, including Jharkhand, Gujarat, and Karnataka. The gang had demanded a ransom from Shinde’s family and received about Rs 90,000. However, they killed him because the full ransom was not paid. His body was later dumped in Jehanabad. The investigation is still ongoing, and it was also discovered that some of the gang members were involved in cybercrimes.

Pune Police also joined the investigation, sending a team to Patna to help local police. They worked together to confirm that Shinde was abducted outside Patna airport.
