In an inspiring move to boost community safety and preparedness, the Chandigarh Administration has urged young people to join the Civil Defence Volunteer program.

With tensions rising between India and Pakistan, the need for emergency response and disaster relief has become more important than ever.

On May 10, 2025, a special training camp was held at Tagore Theatre for citizens aged 18 and above.

The Chandigarh Administration called for volunteers amid a war-like situation.

The response was amazing—hundreds of young men and women showed up, eager to serve the nation in times of crisis. They were trained in essential skills like basic survival techniques, relief operations, and community awareness to handle emergencies effectively.

The enthusiasm among Chandigarh’s youth was heartwarming. Long queues outside the venue proved that the city’s young generation is ready to stand up for their country when needed. This initiative highlights how India’s youth can unite and contribute during challenging times.

The training camp is not just about learning—it’s about being prepared to act during disasters. Whether it’s helping during natural calamities, supporting relief work, or ensuring community safety, these volunteers will play a crucial role.

Apart from this program, the Chandigarh Administration has taken other safety measures, such as:

  • Restrictions on outdoor lighting
  • Ban on generators and inverters for street lighting
  • Early closure of shops

These steps are part of a larger effort to keep the city alert and ready for any situation.

In uncertain times, actions like these prove the power of community and teamwork. The youth of Chandigarh are setting an example, showing that when the country calls, India will always rise to the occasion.

A big salute to Chandigarh’s young volunteers! You are not just serving the nation—you are the pride of India, making the country stronger with your spirit.
