Deepika Padukone moved to Mumbai in the early 2000s and started working as a model before becoming a famous actress. Around the same time, Muzammil Ibrahim was also trying to make a name as a model. Recently, Muzammil said in an interview that he was in a relationship with Deepika for two years when she had just come to Mumbai.
Muzammil shared that in those early days, they didn’t have much money, so they would go on dates in a rickshaw. After two years, Muzammil said he ended the relationship.
In a talk with Siddharth Kannan, Muzammil said, “We dated for two years.” He also said he was the first guy Deepika met in Mumbai. When asked about her personality back then, he said, “She was very confident because she is Prakash Padukone’s daughter and everyone knew that.” Muzammil said it was Deepika who asked him out first, but he was the one who broke up with her.
Muzammil added, “At that time, I was more popular, but now she is a superstar and I am not. I really like her movies, and she is a beautiful woman doing great, but that’s how things are.”
When asked if they still talk, Muzammil said they stopped talking after Deepika married Ranveer Singh in 2019. Before that, they sometimes kept in touch and even congratulated each other on their success.
Muzammil also shared some sweet memories. He said, “We were young and would go on rickshaw dates in the rain. I earned more money than her back then and bought a car, which made her very happy. Those days were special even though we had little money.” He also recalled how on Deepika’s birthday, he got a DJ to play her favorite song again and again for an hour and a half because he was friends with the DJ.

Deepika Padukone married Ranveer Singh in 2019, and they had their daughter Dua in 2024.
