For the first time since 2011, India’s Test cricket team going to England does not have Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma. Both players retired from Test cricket last month. This made the selectors choose a new team, with Shubman Gill as the new captain.

When the team arrived in London on Saturday, nobody from the fans or media was there to welcome them. This was very different from last November when Kohli came to Australia with the team. Back then, many fans and reporters gathered at the airport and practice sessions to see him. The excitement was so high that the team had to hold practice sessions behind closed doors.
But this time, there was no such excitement in London. A video on social media showed Indian journalist Vimal Kumar saying he didn’t see any fans or media waiting for the team.
Some fans think Test cricket has lost its charm with Kohli and Rohit gone. A few even worry this could be a bad sign for Indian Test cricket. But others believe the excitement will come back once Shubman Gill performs well.

Before leaving for England, Gill was asked if he feels extra pressure because Kohli and Rohit are not there. He said pressure is always there, and the team is ready for it. Even though it’s hard to replace such experienced players, the young team is used to facing challenges.
