Gautam Adani, India’s second richest person, earned Rs 10.41 crore in the financial year ending March 31, 2025. This amount is less than what many other big business leaders and some of his own company executives received.

Adani, who is 62 years old, got his salary from two of the nine listed companies in his group, which works in industries like ports and energy. His total pay was 12% higher than the Rs 9.26 crore he earned in the previous year.

From Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL), the group’s main company, Adani received Rs 2.26 crore as salary and Rs 28 lakh as other benefits, which is a little more than last year.

He also earned Rs 7.87 crore from Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), including Rs 1.8 crore salary and Rs 6.07 crore as commission. This was higher than what he got from APSEZ last year (Rs 6.8 crore).

Compared to other top business leaders in India, Adani’s salary is lower. For example, Mukesh Ambani, India’s richest person, has stopped taking a salary since Covid-19 started. Other leaders like Sunil Bharti Mittal, Rajiv Bajaj, Pawan Munjal, S N Subrahmanyan, and Salil S Parekh earn much more.

Adani also earns from dividends when his companies make profits.

Interestingly, some CEOs in his own group companies get more pay than him. For example, Vinay Prakash, CEO of AEL, earned Rs 69.34 crore, and Vneet S Jaain, Managing Director of Adani Green Energy Ltd, got Rs 11.23 crore.

Adani’s son Karan earned Rs 7.09 crore, while APSEZ’s CEO Ashwani Gupta made Rs 10.34 crore. Other family members and company leaders also earned millions in salaries.

Gautam Adani, whose net worth is $82.5 billion, often competes with Mukesh Ambani for the title of Asia’s richest person. Adani was Asia’s richest in 2022 but lost the position after a big market value drop in 2023 due to a critical report. He regained it twice in 2024 but again lost it to Ambani.

Currently, Ambani ranks 17th richest in the world with $104 billion, while Adani is 20th.
