In a deeply saddening incident, a one-and-a-half-year-old girl named Priya died after falling into a pot of boiling chickpeas in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district. What makes this tragedy even more heartbreaking is that her elder sister had died in a similar accident two years ago.

The incident happened around 9 am on Friday in the Duddhi bazaar area. Priya’s parents, Shailendra and his wife, who are originally from Jhansi, run a small food stall by the roadside. According to police, Priya was playing near the cooking area when she accidentally slipped and fell into the hot pot while her parents were busy with other work.
She was quickly taken to the Duddhi Community Health Centre and later shifted to the district hospital. Unfortunately, despite efforts to save her, she passed away the same day.
Shailendra buried his daughter the next day near the Kanhar River. With a heavy heart, he recalled that their elder daughter, Saumya, also died two years ago in a similar manner after falling into a hot cooking pot.
