Trump Administration Moves to Strip ‘Little Muhammad’ Mamdani of Citizenship Over ‘Terrorism’ Claims

Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor, is now facing something no candidate ever expects — Trump wants to take away his US citizenship.

Yes, you read that right.

The Trump administration is seriously considering revoking Mamdani’s naturalised citizenship, saying he might have lied during the process and has ties to what they call “terrorist sympathies.” Mamdani became a US citizen in 2018. He was born in Uganda and is of Indian descent.

This move came just after Mamdani shocked everyone by beating former governor Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary.

Trump’s Plan: Deport and Discredit

It started with Republican Representative Andy Ogles from Tennessee. He wrote to the Department of Justice (DOJ), demanding a probe into Mamdani. Ogles accused him of supporting Hamas and refusing to condemn violent slogans like “globalise the intifada.”

Trump, at a rally in Florida, called Mamdani “a pure communist” and said the government would “watch him very carefully.” He even joked about arresting him because Mamdani spoke out against ICE.

“The President of the United States just threatened to have me arrested, stripped of my citizenship, put in a detention camp, and deported,” Mamdani wrote on X. “Not because I broke a law, but because I won’t let ICE terrorise our city.”

Pro-Palestinian Views Now Under Fire

Mamdani has been vocal about Palestinian rights and against aggressive immigration policies. He supports police reform, worker rights, and affordable housing. But since winning the primary, his past tweets, lyrics (he once rapped), and political positions have all been dragged into the spotlight.

Ogles even mocked him online, calling him “Zohran ‘little muhammad’ Mamdani,” and demanded he be deported.

The Bigger Picture: Trump’s 2025 Immigration Push

This is not random. Trump’s second-term policies are hitting harder. The DOJ has new instructions to go after naturalised citizens who may have “hidden material facts” during their immigration process. Basically, if they think you lied, they can try to undo your citizenship.

It’s part of a bigger, tougher immigration crackdown under Trump’s 2025 plan.

Democrats are calling it racist and dangerous. Senator Chris Murphy said the whole thing is “racist bullshit,” adding that Mamdani’s working-class platform “scares the Mar-a-Lago crowd.”

Trump Sides with Eric Adams

Interestingly, Trump praised Eric Adams — Mamdani’s rival who now runs as an independent. Adams was recently cleared in a corruption case, and Trump said he “helped a little bit.”

Mamdani didn’t stay quiet. He posted that Trump’s praise for Adams while threatening him shows exactly where power wants to stay.

The New York mayor race is no longer just a local election — it’s a national battleground. Trump is using it to test his immigration power and send a message: dissent won’t be tolerated.

Zohran Mamdani may have won the primary, but the real fight has just begun.
