Linda Yaccarino has officially stepped down as the CEO of X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. She led the company for two years and shared a heartfelt message thanking Elon Musk for giving her what she called “the opportunity of a lifetime.”

Yaccarino joined the company in June 2023 after Elon Musk bought and rebranded Twitter. Before that, she worked at NBCUniversal as a top advertising executive. Her main job at X was to rebuild advertiser trust, improve user safety—especially for children—and help turn the platform around during a time of big changes.

During her time as CEO, the platform launched new features like Community Notes, a fact-checking tool created by users, and worked on X Money, a future financial service. She focused on keeping free speech alive while also making the platform safer.

In her goodbye post on X, Yaccarino wrote:

“After two incredible years, I’ve decided to step down as CEO of X. I’m grateful to Elon Musk for trusting me to lead this company and help shape its future. I’m proud of what our team has done—from improving user safety and restoring advertiser confidence, to launching new tools like Community Notes and X Money.”

She also said the platform has become a “digital town square” where voices from all over the world can be heard. Yaccarino ended her message by saying she’ll continue to support the platform and its team.

“I’ll be cheering you all on. As always, I’ll see you on X.”
