The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has tightened security at the Golden Temple after receiving a threat email. The email claimed that explosives like RDX might be present and warned of possible damage to the holy shrine.
SGPC Chief Secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan shared on Monday that the email mentioned a possible attack on Monday, but didn’t give exact details. The SGPC quickly informed the police commissioner, and an investigation has already begun. The local police officer (SHO) also visited the temple to check the situation.

SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami was immediately informed, and a meeting was held to review the security measures.
Even though the threat might be a hoax, SGPC is not taking any risks. Security has been increased throughout the temple, especially around the parikrama (the path around the temple) and galliara (the surrounding areas). Security teams have been posted to ensure safety and prevent any trouble. CCTV cameras are also being closely monitored.
When asked about scanners, Mannan said that scanning machines will be installed soon at important spots. More updates are expected in the next couple of days as the investigation continues.
